With a strong focus on delivering a quality finish for our clients, we can also provide project management, construction and horticulture services, ensuring our designs reach their full potential from concept to completion. James develops a healthy collaborative relationship with each client, through a passionate and practical approach to each project.
James has over 15 years industry experience, and an award winning background in landscape design and construction. He originally completed a landscape apprenticeship, learning the physical skills and horticultural practices required in developing high end residential gardens in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. Working alongside reputable trades and clients, he quickly picked up a trained eye for detail and commitment for achieving premium results with each project. This passion led to recognition amongst his peers, and was awarded Victorian Landscape apprentice of the year in 2006.
James was then given the opportunity to design and build a large scale residential landscape in Los Angeles, which also allowed him to travel abroad to further develop his craft and own design philosophies. In 2011 James was also apart of the Australian Flemings Trailfinders team that won a silver gilt medal at the prestigious Chelsea Flower and Garden Show in the UK.
James has always been inspired by the designed landscape, and the role that plants have in connecting us back to nature. After successfully completing further plants & garden design studies at the University of Melbourne ( Burnley ), James returned to the rugged beauty and exposed shores of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, where JRLD was formed. James designed & built an award winning garden at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show in 2014 and has won other industry awards for his residential projects. Forever inspired by nature and coastal environments, JRLD expanded to the warmer sub tropical environments of Queensland’s Noosa region in 2015, where James continues to follow his passion in creating inspiring sub tropical gardens along this stunning stretch of coast and lush hinterland areas.
